"Now that’s a kitchen”

Vincent,
We just wanted to let you know how happy we are with our new kitchen you and The Zen Works team just completed for us. We never expected the transformation you created to be what it is! We are extremely happy with all phases of the work. The attention to detail, the craftsmanship of the cabinets, island and layout is phenomenal! I have cooked several meals since your team left including a very large Easter dinner, the layout you created is so efficient that I can hardly believe I was able to work in the old kitchen for so many years. Thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!

We appreciate how the work was done so quickly and how you kept us informed every step of the way.

I love the reaction we get when family and friends come by, and often, have heard back from them the very next day, complementing us and saying "Now that’s a kitchen” . We can’t say enough about how much we love sitting here, admiring your work. The under cabinet lighting is absolutely gorgeous and at night just makes the granite counters and glass tile back splash stand out as you said it would! It looks spectacular!

Thank you again for a wonderful job!

New Kitchen and Bathroom

We absolutely love our new kitchen and bathroom! It has completely transformed our house and made living there so much more fun, while maintaining the character of our almost 100 year old home. Vincent was wonderful through the whole process from design to every last detail. He kept us informed every step of the way and brought humor, good spirits, and excitement to the project. I always knew that I could ask him every question, no matter how minor. We stayed in our house throughout construction, and he and the others working on the project kept things clean and neat. He offered us fantastic advice all along the way, and I can't imagine having worked with anyone else.
Thanks again, we are truly loving the new spaces! Evan just said it's like we have a bigger house. Jeremy said the window seat is the best.

Brooklyn Condo

This was the first time we had ever renovated an apartment and we were very concerned about picking the right company and person to help us, particularly because we didn't want to have to move out while the work was being done. Vinny, from The Zen Works came highly recommended to us by friends whose kitchen he had renovated. Choosing to work with him was the best decision we could've made.

He crafted beautiful custom cabinets for the kitchen, as well as built-in drawers and cabinets for the master bedroom. The tiling work in the bathrooms was excellent. Vinny was also helpful in pointing out ways to improve upon the architect's design and optimize for resale, such as creating additional storage next to the washer/dryer closet and installing a pot filler above the stove.

In the middle of the project we learned we were expecting our first child. Vinny and his team took the extra time and effort to ensure that no part of the construction would pose any risk to the pregnancy.

We are so thrilled with how the renovations turned out and really enjoy spending time in our new home! In addition to being a master contractor, Vinny is a true pleasure to work with and by the end of the project had become our friend. He and his team bring integrity and skill to everything they touch and we wholeheartedly recommend him.

Re-designed and taking full advantage of the space above complete with a bar for rolling ladder to be set upon! This was a great use of space, (big selling points for NYC apartments), for those not so often used items, suitcases etc.

A bedroom Nook in a Brooklyn New York Condo. Poor use of space.

Better use of a re-designed Brooklyn New York bedroom Nook complete with the bar for the rolling ladder and 28 inch deep drawers!

We collaborated with our client in Brooklyn New York renovating their. The building was renovated into condo's in the late 80's. All the finishes were of a lesser quality and dull color scheme.

The "After" affect! Completely gutted, and put back together with floating vanity and neat subway tile. Each bathroom (2) in the unit has a built-in Shampoo Niche.

Kitchen Design and Install

Dealing with Vincent at The Zen Work's was an absolute treat. I contacted a couple of other firms to come out and provide me estimates on a kitchen design and install. I even tried one the well-known big box stores, they had no clue. None of the others had the same enthusiasm and design sense for my small kitchen or even the ability to provide me with what I didn’t know I was looking for in the first place, as Vinny did! It was like I was collaborating with an artist and his blank canvas. I felt included and it was a lot of fun to step out of my comfort zone!
In fact every time I go into my kitchen I see something different in the color and wood character he has embraced my kitchen with. From design to install, it was a collaborative work of art. The functionality of what I purchased doesn't equal what I paid. It's worth twice what he charged me. I couldn't be happier with the end result.

I would recommend this modest individual and The Zen Works to anyone. Give him a shot to impress you, you will not be disappointed.

Amazing Job

Vincent and The Zen Works team did an amazing job on our bathroom cabinetry. He took the time to listen to our needs and design an idea that would maximize our bathroom space. He never pressured or rushed us he was extremely patient with us. He was always on time and left the work area very clean.

I highly recommend The Zen Works for all your wood working needs. His work is immaculate and beautiful.

Thanks Vincent for your ideas, patients, creativity and a work ethic that goes beyond measure. All the best.

Unique and Wonderful!

Working with Vincent (Vinny) and his Zen Works team was a real pleasure and a wonderful experience. Vinny is a real gem; a contractor with the unique combination of vision and skill. Through out our kitchen renovation and remodel, I was amazed and impressed by his team's meticulous attention to detail. They always left me a clean house to come home to and were timely as well as considerate. Vinny and his team are truly a unique and wonderful group to work with!

The Zen truly works

After purchasing my first home I knew there was some work to be done. Various issues with painting, cabinetry and other construction/design tasks were at the front of my list before I moved in. As I looked around for the right company my Aunt referred me to Vincent from The Zen Works. From the very start the experience was first class and professional. Vincent's patience, advice and expertise along the way helped me make my first home into what I was looking for. Vincent and his Zen Works team had to work under a tight schedule but everything was done as promised while the quality of work remained exceptional. Vincent understood what I was looking for and at the same time offered up much appreciated advice that made my home even more inviting. Vincent's daily updates were helpful as I was always made aware of the progress we were making. I highly recommend Vincent and his Zen Works team as they are not only skilled professionals but great people.

"The Contractor’s Hall of Fame"

We first found Vinny in 2004 thru a mutual friend. We were immediately struck by his “can do” attitude and recognized the trust and integrity in his personality. And so we signed up for a kitchen renovation. Needless to say, all of the promises Vinny made were kept, i.e. on time scheduling of the project; clean construction site, informed of his weekly schedule as it pertained to our project, transparency, etc. Expert craftsmanship is what makes Vinny such a master in his field. He always makes sure every facet of the project is perfect before he goes on to the next phase. Our kitchen is extraordinary and is now 10 years old but still looks the same as it did in 2004. Of course, this is due to the quality of his work. Now, more than a decade later, we have Vinny back renovating 3 bathrooms and a myriad of outside projects.

We feel the same about him as he continues to perform his profession with integrity, precision and competence. He has the ability to take the stress out of a renovation – particularly when you are living in the space being renovated. He even arranged to have a cleaning person clean our home midway through the project. What a special touch for the homeowner. The bottom line here is that Vinny is an extraordinary human being who not only cares about the quality of his work, but he clearly cares about the clients who engage him and, in our case, became part of our family. We can’t imagine having anyone else perform work in our home. We are so fortunate to have had the wonderful experience of working with this extraordinary, talented, kind and caring person once again. Vinny is one-of-a-kind and all those who know him can attest to this. We certainly can.

Vinny’s crew (plumber, electrician, mason, apprentices, Mark, George, et al.), and others are a perfect fit and mesh beautifully with his high standards and exceptional work ethic. They are all first-rate in their field and it is very clear they all enjoy working alongside him. We think Vinny should be put into the “Contractor’s Hall of Fame” as a master craftsman, exceptional human being and teacher extraordinaire. Those who will have the good fortune of having Vinny and the Zen Works complete work for them on home renovations are in for a very pleasant experience.

Thank you Vinny for your friendship, your extraordinary work which has given us so much happiness in our home and for your many kindnesses. You are a very special person and particularly very special to us.
Namaste,

"You Get What You Pay For"

My experience with Vincent and The Zen Works Team has been completely positive --- from both the work quality and Vincent’s personal qualities.

I'm so overwhelmed with gratitude for your work quality. The work is extremely well done, attending to every detail, with a keen artist’s eye. Vincent’s breadth of knowledge is vast. His solution-oriented attitude is earned from his years and years of experience. He asks questions which I, as a homeowner, never would have thought of. He and the Team are forward thinkers; for example they added hidden screws to one of Vincent’s designs which allows me to change a “post it” panel at my desk in my kitchen so that when I “get tired of the fabric cover” in the years to come, I can do so without having to dismantle the entire piece. Now that’s thinking ahead! What a treat!

Working with The Zen Works and Vincent is the opposite from working with your everyday contractor, and the common complaints shared by most in that experience. Vincent shows absolute transparency related to material costs, billing, labor and the like. He communicates ahead of time, on-time, and has impeccable follow-through. The positive energy is contagious, and carries through with simple, yet elegant style. Vincent and The Zen Works Team have my highest gratitude and recommendations!

It proves true, “you get what you pay for again and again.”
Thank you so much.

A Note of Thanks

On Wednesday, September 11th, a magnificent array of painted roses was delivered to Joanne Wagner, our Operations Coordinator, much to her surprise. The accompanying note read:

To Joanne, Irwin and all the wonderful people at CSI,

As a little boy growing up in Ossining, my first Little League Baseball Team was CSI! I remember being so proud to be on that team! As years went on I witnessed how much good CSI provided to the local community, an amazing organization to say the least! Now 45 years later I received the chance to provide my expertise to that same organization.

From my being, thank you for your support and kindness.

Namaste! (Translation-I bow to you)
Vincent Mazzacone

Editor’s Note: Vincent Mazzacone of The Zen Works was the successful bidder for our window replacement job. He completed the job with both respect to our needs and diligence, all in a timely manner. We thank him for the roses, his kind words and the wonderful job.

"From Renovation to Friendship"

"We met under unusual circumstances while I was in the midst of a divorce. I mentioned to you that I needed a contractor to do some renovation work in the condo I was relocating to. I was “upside down” with the stress of my issues and the thought of dealing with construction on top was adding to that stress. You mentioned to me that you and your company, The Zen Works, could help bring some balance (at least on that end) to my life. You and your team at The Zen Works did in fact help me find that balance. You were able to gently take me out of my comfort zone with your eye for colors and ideas that transcend the “usual” contractor/client interaction. I never felt like you or any of your team was inpatient with me. Some how I knew all of you understood from the purest of intentions. You especially were patient with me and always had a few minutes for me just to listen if I just needed to vent. I can not thank you enough.

Vincent is a craftsman that first spends time with his client to understand them, hear what they are saying and what they mean. This is very rare to find in these tough times when budgets are so tight and time is money. This made for a project that went from start to finish without major issues, the final product shows! You have a unique ability to connect with people and offer alternatives that one might not ordinarily consider. You and your team have a strong sense of attention to detail with the work and earn a clients trust. I was kept constantly informed by Vincent about the progress and plans for the days and weeks to follow as the project progressed. I trusted Vincent's suggestions and was very happy with the result. I now enjoy coming home to my sanctuary and finding peace and tranquility just as you said it would be.

Thank you very much for everything and especially your friendship."

"New Trex Deck"

"To say that are pleased with our new Trex deck would be the understatement of the Year! It has added a visually pleasing area to our home and no doubt additional value. The Zen works has completed another excellent work product! We could not believe the beautiful flower arrangement you left as a “thank you” when we walked in the kitchen today after you and your men were completed. It was the note that gave rise to deep emotions. Vinny you are man full of grace, you have received many gifts and use them wisely in your life. It is a privilege to know you, your crew and call you friend."
Peace and love,
-Tom and Marion C. Briarcliff Manor, New York

PS: The debris removal and sweeping of our garage when you were completed left an impeccably clean area.

"Simple and Easy"

"I wanted to say thank you for helping me. As you know you came recommended to me from a close friend. I purchased my first home and had to do a simple change over of an inadequate window for my powder room right at the front entry. The right choice was very important since I did not want to severely alter how the front entry was viewed from the approach. Not working with a contractor before I was a little nervous about getting bad advice and being taken advantage of. We have all heard the horror stories. This was a very small project for you, a half day but a big one for me. From the minute you came to see the project and discuss with me my concerns to the minute you left, I felt at ease and happy that I had made the right choice from your fact based recommendations to me. Thank you so much for your advice and respect for my concerns with this change. It made such a big difference. You made it simple and easy."

- Dave S. Danbury, Connecticut.

"Top Notch"

"I wanted to send you a note to let you know how happy my husband and I are with the work your crew preformed on our home. In these difficult financial times many home owners struggle with the need to have certain improvements completed and the fear of being taken advantage of by dishonest companies floating around out there. I am happy to say that not only were The Zen Works pricing fair and balanced but the comfort level and trust we experienced was top notch. You kept us informed every step of the way and the simplicity of your approach was a big plus. The deck project with two new sliding glass doors and new front entry were completed in an efficient, clean, respectful manor. When we came home every evening from work we found our home safe and clean as could be given the fact that work was going on around us, we never were “sitting in debris”. My husband was blown away at how that end of the project was handled. We will be calling on you and The Zen Works in the future. Thank you so very much.

Yoga Studio

"When my wife and I decided to relocate our Yoga business, we knew the space had to be just right. It had to be a peaceful, elegant sanctuary that made people want to linger and take time for themselves. Vincent (Vinny) sat back and listened to our dreams, and then made our dreams his own. He took our vague ideas and hopes and made them into a concrete reality that we still can barely believe is possible.

When obstacles came up (as they do in any project), Vinny not only overcame them, but even incorporated them seamlessly into the whole (like a bamboo pillar wrapped cunningly around an unfortunately placed gas line). His enthusiasm, and above all, creativity, is truly a cut above the rest. Throughout the process, Vinny was in constant communication with us, and it was a tremendous comfort to us that he was so organized and focused at a time in which we were turning our business lives upside down to make this happen. Vinny was like a rock, and our new yoga studio is beyond anything we could have hoped. I truly believe that if you put your trust in Vinny he will never let you down."

New Deck

"Working with Vincent Mazzacone of The Zen Works was one of the easiest experiences we've ever had. We put off building a new deck for years because we were overwhelmed by the process and worried about finding a contractor we could trust. Once we started working with Vincent, we knew that we were in good hands! His knowledge, skill, and responsiveness made for a wonderful experience and most importantly, a beautiful deck!"

Kitchen Remodel

"Stephanie and I just wanted to say thank you for the beautiful kitchen. The workmanship and functionality exceeded our expectations. It's rare to find true craftsmen. Your attention to detail is impeccable, and the courtesy shown while in our home was much appreciated. Many thanks."

Apartment Renovation

"We did a full apartment renovation with The Zen Works, Vincent (Vinny) Mazzacone, and had a great experience. It was a big job with lots of moving parts and Vinny did an excellent job of handling issues as they arose and kept everything running smoothly. Everything was completed on schedule and to our satisfaction, down to the last details, and there was no down time! Just a hardworking crew in our home every day getting things done. Even with several big surprises under the floor and behind the walls, Vinny's calm and simple approach kept the project on time and on budget.

Vincent's confident, calm approach went a long way to allowing my wife and I to feel, secure, and at ease with the direction Vinny took us in. We definitely will use his services for our next project. We highly recommend Vinny and The Zen Works to anyone looking to transform their home."

Home Renovation

"I began my home renovation project with Vincent three years ago. Financial circumstances dictated that the work progress in stages, and we worked out a schedule that permitted life to proceed normally in the house while work was being done. Vincent made sure that during periods when the kitchen was "down" for renovation, an alternative area for cooking and dining was available.

For prospective clients, let me cover the various areas of concern.

1. Quality of work. My home is unusual. It was the primary residence of the architect who designed and built it. To say that surprises were encountered in the course of the renovation is an understatement. But Vincent and his crew proved thoroughly up to the task, dealing with each problem in a creative and ingenious manner. Attention was paid to detail, and the craftsmanship in the finished product was at the highest level.

2. Communications. Throughout the process, Vincent has been available at all times to discuss each piece of work to whatever level of detail i desired. Numerous drawings and plans were made at my request, and then executed. All financial matters were handled with total transparency. I was never surprised by an unanticipated bill, and costs were tightly managed and thoroughly documented. At the conclusion of each phase of work, I was given a "book" containing every receipt and all the notes Vincent made in the course of the work.

3. Personalities. Vincent's crew is both highly capable and exceptionally well-mannered. There is no way around the fact that a home renovation involves a deep intrusion of strangers into one's life. But after a few weeks of getting to know each other, this fact faded into the background. I won't say they became "family", because this can often mean the opposite of what's intended. Instead, they became friends, aware that they were in someone else's home, with a job to perform, quietly and with as little disturbance to the occupants as possible. Over the successive phases of the work, it has been a joy to have them return.

4. Timeliness. Prior to each phase of work, Vincent would give me time and cost estimates. In every instance, work came in on time and under budget.

5. Management. Vincent has taken responsibility for every piece of work in which he was involved, including services and products provided by others. For example, in the installation of a generator for the house, Vincent arranged and supervised work done by masons, electricians, the town plumbing inspector, and the propane company. He was on hand to check each piece of work, handle communications, and do whatever finishing was required. This pattern was repeated throughout the renovation. roblems or questions arose, I never waited more than a couple of hours to have my phone call or email returned. As a home-owner facing the daunting prospect of whole-house renovation, the most elusive experience is peace of mind. Thanks to Vincent and his crew, that was achieved."

Apartment Renovation

“It is with great pleasure that I write this testimonial on behalf of Mr. Vincent Mazzacone of The Zen Works who recently renovated my Apartment. As excited as I was with my renovation plans, I had many reservations and concerns.

Mr. Mazzacone was there for me every step of the way and more importantly in allaying my woes. Unlike most business owners, he was always readily available. Once the project commenced, I changed my mind on some aspects of the work, but he was never judgmental and worked with me to assure the change was really what I wanted. His professionalism, aesthetic sensibilities, and patience were impressive. I only hope that he will be available to work with me again.”

Deck Construction

“I have had the pleasure of working with Vincent (Vinny) Mazzacone since 1995. Over this time, I have completed a number of projects on my home and I can honestly say I wouldn't trust any other craftmen with my most valuable asset. Vinny has an innate sense of connecting with his clients – this gives him the unique opportunity to guide his clients based on what will work for THEM, not necessarily the easiest way out for him. Another much appreciated aspect of having The Zen Works come to your home is that at the end of the day – even though we were under construction – we would never know they were at your home, they were clean, quiet, respectful and became part of the family.

The commitment to respecting the client and their sacred spaces is top notch. The trust factor is very important in today's world. I have always been overjoyed with the work that Vinny provides and I look forward to my next project.”
